An important announcement from
Salem United Methodist Church’s Pastor:

Dear friends,

After many lengthy conversations and prayerful discernment, it is necessary to close Salem Church.  All activities and meetings which meet at Salem Church are cancelled.  This is a difficult decision because of the importance of our many ministries.  The health and safety of all in our community is the first priority.  We will remain closed until March 28, at which time we will evaluate the current situation.
David and I will work on ways to do church differently next Sunday.  Stay tuned!
Friends, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with each of you,.  We are the church together and we need to do church differently for the next couple of weeks.  If we can be of any assistance, please feel free to contact us.  The answering machine and emails will be monitored while the facility is closed.   I know that you join me in praying for all who are sick and all who are living in fear.  Pray for our caregivers and first responders.  May our faith be bigger than our fear!

Welcome to Salem United Methodist Church!

Your presence is a blessing to us.

We are a congregation that welcomes all with open hearts, open minds, and open doors.

Our faith is deeply rooted in the Methodist tradition of social justice and we support the inclusion of all God’s beloved children in the life of the church.

We are a community of non-perfect believers, who strive to order our lives in the way of Jesus Christ, to love our God, to love our neighbors, and to bring peace, kindness, and justice to our hurting world.

We’re a lively, joyful place filled with people of all ages and walks of life joined together in worship and service.

Where, like you, people strive to grow spiritually,  as they have done in this church since 1868.

Today in the local or global community Salem does all the good we can, for all the people we can, in all the ways we can.

Celebrate life in Jesus’ name.

The Spirit of Salem

A special fund intended to support unique missions and ministries
in the spirit of Salem’s first 150 years.

For the past 150 years, the people of Salem Church have provided unique and faithful ministry in the community and in the world.  In looking back on that history which began with 17 people meeting in the English family farmhouse to start a new church, there have been many examples of missions and ministries initiated by members who were inspired by their faith and trusted by the congregation to step out and make a difference in the lives of others in the name of Jesus Christ.

Stewardship begins and ends with the understanding of God’s ownership of all. It refers to the way time, talents, material possessions, or wealth are used or given for the service of God. “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” Psalm 24:1
