The Chancel Choir sings during the 9:30 a.m. worship service September through June.  We present a variety of sacred music and also feature special instrumentalists throughout the year.  Rehearsals are on Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m.  New youth and adult members are always welcome.

The Bell Choir also rehearses Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m., September thru May.  We provide special music during the worship service on a monthly basis.

Children's Choir, ages preschool through age 12.  Children leave the church service during the final hymn to go to the Chapel for rehearsal.  Beth Huwe is the director.

HISTORY OF THE ORGAN

The history of the Salem United Methodist pipe organ dates back to the early 1950’s.  A blend of the old and new, it was built by Mr. Robert Fischer.  Three of the present twenty-one ranks were part of a previous organ that was donated by an Ohio congregation.  These pipes are well over one hundred years old.

The total design of the present instrument reflects the classic and modern schools of thought.  In the fall of 1984, the organ was moved from the old sanctuary, and the main windchests were “double decked” into the current configuration.  A new trumpet was donated by the Neuenschwander family.  The addition of the 16 ft. principal unit was completed in the spring of 2000.  The largest of these (5 pipes) was placed  inside the organ to the left.  Additionally, an 8 ft. Petit Trompette, 2 ft. Italian Principal, 1 3/5 ft. Tierce and a new console were added.
